We can’t just sit back and wait for things to happen – that’d be the opposite of interactive. That’s just not who we are. We have set and achieved compelling milestones in our quest to stay several steps ahead of the rest, and here you can take a peek at the future holds for touch screen communications. Our mad scientists wanted us to tell you that it hasn’t been easy, but their dedication and initiative to make things happen will be well worth the wait.

Little Black Box

Patent Pending

We uncovered a significant opportunity to improve Cisco’s scalability and feature set within their Digital Media Suite; their products and services directly related to Digital Signage. It’s not too often you get to say that about a multi billion dollar IT network giant. Horizon Display has produced middleware for all of our monitors that allow Cisco and Cisco VARs to offer touch monitors in any size and on any display manufacturer’s monitors. Upcoming feats that we’ll deliver for Cisco users are full multi-touch and unlimited touch technology platforms on the DMP. The goliath that is Cisco just got stronger, and we’re delighted with our contribution.

    "Like-A-Glove" Overlay

We have historically been proponents of “no overlay” marketing, and we still fully endorse that embedded touch monitors are the premiere option. But in the instance where customers are looking to upgrade all existing displays to touch displays, an overlay can be a cost saving and simple method for reaching that goal. Before entering the overlay market however, Horizon understands a better overlay is what we must deliver. Enter “Fit Like a Glove,” an overlay that, well, fits like a glove. No straps and no vandal concerns. What’s better, it ships to your international customers at a fraction of the cost of shipping monitors or managing logistics for integration services.

"Swipe N' Scribe" Interactive LCD Whiteboard

Electronic whiteboards on short and long throw projectors have been around for a couple decades. Being able to interact with a simultaneous touch experience and on a vibrant high-definition LCD monitor, well that’s another question. The demand for such a product has been steadily growing for more than 24 months, and in the spirit of our vision, we are within arm’s reach of a solution. Expected to be ready for go-to-market this year, the Swipe n’ Scribe monitor features dual touch gesturing of objects on screen, while simultaneously annotating with a pen. Imagine using one hand to hold the pen and touch the screen without having to toggle the touch screen off and on. Imagine swiping an entire presentation to the right and having it publish to the cloud for off site retrieval - yes, with notes on screen and everything. Well, that’s what we’re delivering, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on features that can be of service to you.

    Laser Based Touchscreen for Projectors

Have you ever wanted to touch the screen while sitting 15 ft. away in the comfort of your desk chair? Laser pointers were made cool in the 80’s, but now they are mostly considered a nuisance, and show up more often in trade show schwag bags than in executive debriefings. We’re investigating a way to bring back the glory of laser pointers by building an interactive projection screen that recognizes a laser pointer in the same manner a touch screen recognizes a finger. Do you have great ideas about software applications that would help grow this demand? Let us know.
