About This Project

GULF COAST BIRD OBSERVATORY

Interactive Touchscreen Software Designed to Bring Results by Interactive Experts Horizon Display

Client: Gulf Coast Bird Observatory

Application: Educational and Informative Interactive Display & Digital Sign-in System

Technology: Horizons Fuse Touchscreen Software Displayed on a 46" 6-Point Interactive Monitor

The mission of the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory is to protect the birds and their habitats around the Gulf of Mexico. They are recognized as an innovative organization, which has designed and conducted a significant number of large conservation projects, including migration studies, habitat enhancement, land acquisition, regional habitat mapping, and others.

THE CHALLENGE

As an innovative company, who designed and conducted a significant number of large conservation projects, the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory (GCBO) found themselves in need of a technology upgrade at their facility. GCBO kept track of all visitor numbers manually on paper. The visitor information was critical as it was used for requesting donations and applying for grants. Horizon’s Fuse software enabled GCBO to create a digital check-in system as well as an educational touchscreen display for their visitors to enjoy. This project was made possible by a grant the GCBO received for $25,000 from the Dow Chemical Company.

 THE SOLUTION

Interactive Touchscreen Software Designed to Bring Results by Interactive Experts Horizon Display

Because environmental education is crucial to our future, this interactive touchscreen kiosk will be a main feature in the lobby of GCBO’s Cecilia Riley Avian Conservation Science Center. With the new Center’s programs and family friendly operational hours GCBO hopes to increase ecotourism for the entire region. The Bird Care Kiosk, fitted with a 46″ touchscreen and Fuse Interactive Software, will serve as a digital check-in system and improve the overall visitor experience by providing valuable information for guests. Information on the variety of bird species at the observatory, trail maps around the facility, volunteer opportunities, and ways guests can help conserve at home will be accessible through this interactive touch kiosk.

THE RESULTS

Horizon’s latest interactive application, Fuse, was critical for the success of this install. The user interface is designed with the user in mind allowing for clear and easy navigation of content. Fuse provides guests with an exciting way to digest information while enhancing their overall experience at the center.

Fuse’s back-end empowers GCBO to upload all their own content and make changes on the fly without any coding or in-depth technical expertise. This touchscreen software application and 46″ interactive display gave GCBO exactly the tools they needed to execute a superior interactive customer experience.
